PENYDARRENWe studied how the major AI engines answer real patient questions to understand why they recommend some clinics over others. Now we use that research to help clinics become easier to find, verify and recommend.
Penydarren is an AI search optimisation consultancy specialising exclusively in UK aesthetic and medical aesthetics clinics.
They are asking ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers which clinics to trust, who is best near them and which treatment may be right for them.
Traditional SEO helps your clinic appear in search results. AI visibility examines what happens next: which pages are retrieved, which sources are trusted and which clinics are eventually named.
This is not about replacing SEO.
It is about making sure your clinic remains visible while patients are researching treatments, comparing providers and deciding who deserves the enquiry.
AI referrals are still early, but they are already commercially meaningful.

Based on Penydarren's latest UK testing, June to July 2026.
A low result does not mean your clinic lacks credibility. It means the engines did not find enough clear and consistent evidence to select it for these particular questions.
The full review shows where your clinic entered the process, which competitors were selected instead and whether the main gap sits in search visibility, website content, practitioner evidence or independent sources.
We use the searches, sources and recommendation patterns behind real AI answers to identify what should be improved. The work is specific to the clinic — not a generic AI SEO checklist applied to every website.
We improve whether relevant treatment, concern and location pages appear in the searches AI assistants create. This builds on traditional SEO and local SEO, but focuses specifically on the searches connected to AI-generated recommendations.
We strengthen the pages an engine may need when researching your clinic. That can include dedicated treatment pages, patient concerns, suitability information, comparisons, practitioner expertise and clinic locations.
We make it easier to connect each treatment to the person providing it. Qualifications, registrations, clinical experience and treatment specialisms should be clear on the clinic website and consistent with trusted external sources.
AI assistants do not rely only on the clinic website. We assess relevant registers, directories, review platforms, practitioner profiles, editorial sources and other third-party pages that may support or contradict the clinic’s claims.
We check whether important information can be found, accessed and interpreted correctly. This can include crawler access, page structure, internal linking, structured data, schema markup and the consistency of business information across the site.
Recommendations change. We repeat the testing across questions and engines to measure whether the clinic is entering more searches, appearing in more sources and reaching more final answers.
No single change guarantees that an AI assistant will recommend a clinic. The objective is to strengthen the chain between being found, being understood, being verified and being selected.
Penydarren traced 1,420 answers across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity to understand why some UK aesthetic clinics are named and others are missed.
Nearly two-thirds of the clinics named appeared in just one of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity.
Visibility in one engine is not visibility across AI.
Pages in positions 1 to 5 were approximately 3.4 times more likely to enter the citation set than pages in positions 16 to 20.
But being retrieved did not guarantee being recommended.
Only 36% of recorded source instances came from clinic-owned websites.
The majority came from registers, directories, reviews, editorial sources and other third parties.
Just 8.9% of the 1,111 clinics named appeared across all four engines.
There is no universal AI shortlist.
Around two-thirds of the individual clinic selections changed between monthly testing rounds, even while the wider group of credible clinics remained relatively stable.
One test is not enough.
Between 90% and 98% of recommendations were supported by a page retrieved while the answer was being generated.
A clinic absent from those searches is unlikely to enter the answer.
414 patient questions. 1,420 responses. 2,388 background searches. 11,465 recorded source instances. 1,111 distinct clinics.
Penydarren specialises exclusively in AI visibility for UK aesthetic clinics.
We built our methodology by testing real patient questions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, then tracing the searches, sources and clinic recommendations behind each answer.
We use that evidence to improve the parts of a clinic’s online presence most closely connected to whether it is found, understood and recommended.
The work can include search visibility, local SEO, website content, practitioner evidence, third-party profiles and technical accessibility. Each priority is based on where the clinic is actually being lost.
Penydarren’s methodology was developed through structured testing of real patient questions across the major AI engines.

Patients are already asking AI where to go. We test how your clinic appears across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, then show whether it is being recommended, missed or replaced by competitors. If there is a clear opportunity, we will also explain what needs to change and how Penydarren would approach the work.
